About the book:

Rearming Hinduism is a handbook for intellectual resistance. Through an astute and devastating critique of Hinduphobia in today’s academia, media and popular culture, Vamsee Juluri shows us that what the Hinduphobic worldview denies virulently is not only the truth and elegance of Hindu thought, but the very integrity and sanctity of the natural world itself.

By boldly challenging some of the media age’s most popular beliefs about nature, history, and pre-history along with the usual Hinduphobic myths about Aryans, invasions, and blood-sacrifices, Rearming Hinduism links Hinduphobia and its hubris to a predatory and self-destructive culture that perhaps only a renewed Hindu sensibility can effectively oppose. It is a call to see the present in a way that elevates our desa and kala to the ideals of the sanathana dharma once again.

The
literal meaning of the word Jijnasa in Sanskrit is Inquiry. Jijnasa is a
platform under the aegis of CESS, which is an effort to promote the
quest for knowledge.
It is hard to obtain the company of the noble.
It is easy to obtain the company of the ignoble.
Pebbles are available in plenty; but it is hard to obtain the precious diamond.

India
is not just a nation state but a civilization state. A civilization
that prides itself for the spirit of inquiry, and is not based on a
contrived belief system or historicity. A civilization that is firmly
rooted in Dharma. A civilization that has much to offer and inspire the
world.

However, our ignorance about ourselves is profound. It is
therefore Jijnasa’s desire to invoke the spirit of inquiry, which can
set people on the journey of self discovery. Its aim is to provoke and
equip people to see things beyond the limited mainstream discourse on
issues of national importance and seek solutions to contemporary issues
facing the country.

It is important to understand ourselves
before we can understand the issues around us. Enlightened individuals
make for an assertive society, which has the womb to carry traditions
along with modernity. Jijnasa’s attempt is to make fellow travelers
discover the heterogeneity of the Indian traditions yet the cohesiveness
that has stood us in good stead for several thousand years. At the core
of Jijnasa, is the desire to build an innate ability to see the world
from an exalted position, which is so essential for a country aspiring

However, what is more critical at this stage is to ensure how the wealth that is locked up in Hindu trusts and is hostage to government control and corruption is leveraged towards socio-religious welfare programs of the Hindu society.

It is our hope that the seminar on 6th Sept, 2014 will go a long way in ensuring that the common man understands the implications that government control on Hindu religious institutions has had on the Hindu society and appreciates the potential of religious freedom should the Hindu society be able to manage its own affairs.

The
literal meaning of the word Jijnasa in Sanskrit is Inquiry.

At the core
of Jijnasa, is the desire to build an innate ability to see the world
from an exalted position, which is so essential for a country aspiring
to play center stage in world affairs.

Jijnasa on Facebook: www.facebook.com/JijnasaCESS

Jijnasa on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC61awDZkCaZzVlf5XWiAmBw?feature=mhee

Jijnasa on Twitter: https://twitter.com/jijnasa_

Jijnasa Blog: http://jijnasa-live.blogspot.in

literal meaning of the word Jijnasa in Sanskrit is Inquiry.

At the core
of Jijnasa, is the desire to build an innate ability to see the world
from an exalted position, which is so essential for a country aspiring
to play center stage in world affairs.

Jijnasa on Facebook: www.facebook.com/JijnasaCESS

Jijnasa on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC61awDZkCaZzVlf5XWiAmBw?feature=mhee

Jijnasa on Twitter: https://twitter.com/jijnasa_

Jijnasa Blog: http://jijnasa-live.blogspot.in

The literal meaning of the word Jijnasa in Sanskrit is Inquiry. Jijnasa is a platform under the aegis of CESS, which is an effort to promote the quest for knowledge.
It is hard to obtain the company of the noble.
It is easy to obtain the company of the ignoble.
Pebbles are available in plenty; but it is hard to obtain the precious diamond.

India is not just a nation state but a civilization state. A civilization that prides itself for the spirit of inquiry, and is not based on a contrived belief system or historicity. A civilization that is firmly rooted in Dharma. A civilization that has much to offer and inspire the world.

However, our ignorance about ourselves is profound. It is therefore Jijnasa’s desire to invoke the spirit of inquiry, which can set people on the journey of self discovery. Its aim is to provoke and equip people to see things beyond the limited mainstream discourse on issues of national importance and seek solutions to contemporary issues facing the country.

It is important to understand ourselves before we can understand the issues around us. Enlightened individuals make for an assertive society, which has the womb to carry traditions along with modernity. Jijnasa’s attempt is to make fellow travelers discover the heterogeneity of the Indian traditions yet the cohesiveness that has stood us in good stead for several thousand years. At the core of Jijnasa, is the desire to build an innate ability to see the world from an exalted position, which is so essential for a country aspiring to play center stage in world affairs.

Jijnasa on Facebook: www.facebook.com/JijnasaCESS

Jijnasa on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC61awDZkCaZzVlf5XWiAmBw?feature=mhee

Jijnasa on Twitter: https://twitter.com/jijnasa_

Jijnasa Blog: http://jijnasa-live.blogspot.in

Abstract:

The ever onward march of Left social engineering has made us all run to our dictionaries to decipher the new meanings of our old lexicon. "Rights" used to imply negative guarantees such as liberty, free association, freedom of worship, and justice; however, the new definitions employed by the Left conflate social contracts with rights, thereby creating a host of positive burdens upon its citizens. Can India - or any nation - withstand this increased pressure or should it? Is this the best way to create a just society?

Absract:
Temple control, monitoring and management by the state have been the ground of contestation in the Independent India. These controversies have led to various amendments in different religious endowment acts and produced many court judgments in past seven decades. To this list of controversies, the rumour that Karnataka Government is going to take Krishna matt into State Endowment Board Administration is another addition.

These conflicts have a long history. It seems that there was a completely different way of managing temples by communities prior to colonial interference about which we have very little knowledge. In the background of the growth of different religious endowment acts, what kind of questions could be asked to address the recent controversy on Krishna Matt and how they can be addressed, becomes a crucial issue. Eventually the nature of public discourse must aim to liberate the temples from the management of the state to sustain different Indian traditions.
Abstract:
Used effectively and well networked it will have a tremendous impact on influencing voters especially parties committed to principle and an ideology. As per the Census of India–2001 the population under 34 years was around 41%. Current proportion of population under 25 years in India is 51% and those under 35 are about 66%. Considering that these people are the voters they are `hungry’ to be fed with authentic and correct information that will have an impact on their future. Engaging them effectively with interactive responses gives a boost to their faith and confidence in the party, Leadership. SM is the fastest, reliable & effective means to achieve. Social media is one of the resourceful methods that can be used to galvanize positive outlook and support base. In November 2011, it was reported Indians spend more time on social media than on any other activity on the Internet. If there is effective planning and a concerted approach then definitely it can mould public opinion and reach out to a larger mass that can definitely yield electoral dividends.

Sexual
violence apart from being a dehumanizing act is an unlawful intrusion
on the right of privacy and sanctity of a female. It is a serious blow
to the person and it tends to humiliate and degrade especially when the
victim is a helpless woman, child or a minor, leaving behind traumatic
experiences. The brutal attack on the young woman in Delhi has brought
out the serious lapse in the entire system with respect to the safety
and security of women, bringing out in its wake a huge chasm in the
societal mindset as well. It is pertinent to note that rape which is a
sexual attack is not only a crime against the person of a woman; but it
is a crime against the society. A rapist not only causes physical
injuries but also leaves an indelible mark on the woman's reputation in a
society. Such cases need to be dealt with firmly and with utmost
sensitivity. There is a responsibility on the society too to rise to the
occasion of the increased number of cases of rape being reported, to
check, introspect and find answers at various levels to make a woman's
world a safe place.

Speaker Profile:

Ramananda Sengupta started his career as a journalist 25 years ago with The Telegraph, Calcutta, where he became the newspaper’s first foreign editor. He then went on to head the international desks of Outlook Magazine, New Delhi, and rediff.com, Mumbai (and its US publication, India Abroad), before moving to Chennai as chief editor of sify.com.
Four years later, he returned to Mumbai to join a startup, India.com, as editor-in-chief, and then to Bangalore in January this year as editor-in-chief of yet another startup, iStream.com. He is now a consultant editor with Indian Defence Review - a premier strategic affairs magazine and writes for various think tanks like the Al Jazeera Center for Studies, among others. His abiding personal and professional interest, however, has always been India and its place in the region, and in the world.
Sexual violence apart from being a dehumanizing act is an unlawful intrusion on the right of privacy and sanctity of a female. It is a serious blow to the person and it tends to humiliate and degrade especially when the victim is a helpless woman, child or a minor, leaving behind traumatic experiences. The brutal attack on the young woman in Delhi has brought out the serious lapse in the entire system with respect to the safety and security of women, bringing out in its wake a huge chasm in the societal mindset as well. It is pertinent to note that rape which is a sexual attack is not only a crime against the person of a woman; but it is a crime against the society. A rapist not only causes physical injuries but also leaves an indelible mark on the woman's reputation in a society. Such cases need to be dealt with firmly and with utmost sensitivity. There is a responsibility on the society too to rise to the occasion of the increased number of cases of rape being reported, to check, introspect and find answers at various levels to make a woman's world a safe place.
